The world we live in has changed—fast.

The most complex problems in our workforce today are human ones. Teams are more distributed, generations more diverse, and global challenges more complex than ever before.

What once felt predictable now feels anything but.

Leadership has expanded beyond managing performance to guiding people through human complexity. Work and life now overlap, as stress, change, and disruption walk in with us to the office each morning.

The tools that worked in the past can’t keep pace with the speed of change we face today.

We’ve entered a new era that demands new skills.

Jen Marr, a smiling woman with blonde hair wearing a black top and white pants, standing outdoors on a bridge with a blue sky and trees in the background.

Hi, I’m Jen.

Global Speaker | Research-Driven Innovator | Relational Leadership Pioneer

I had spent decades building a career in international business: leading teams, traveling the globe, and thriving in a high-performance world.

Then, thirteen years ago, everything changed.

I found myself at the center of two tragedies: Sandy Hook and the Boston Marathon. One as a responder. One as a survivor. Four months apart. Both changed me forever.

In those moments, I saw how unprepared most people are to show up for others in times of uncertainty and pain.

I realized something simple yet profound. Life isn’t about having all the answers; it’s about how we show up when we don’t.

That realization became my life’s work.

A Relational Framework for
Flourishing Leadership

Jen Marr, a woman with long blonde hair sitting at a white table, signing a book with a pen. Next to her are several copies of a book titled "LIFTING UP." A modern, well-lit interior space with a blue wall and wooden chairs in the background.

I’ve devoted my career to understanding what really happens to people—and performance—under stress, change, and disruption. I’ve spent thousands of hours with researchers and organizations across every sector, from hospitals to boardrooms to locker rooms.

What I discovered is this: in times of upheaval, we get our relational behaviors wrong more often than we get them right.

Two women having a conversation in an office, sitting at a table with a laptop.

We assume that being good, empathetic people means our actions automatically reflect care. But often, despite our best intentions, they don’t. We hesitate, deflect, or stay silent when others need us to lead.

That gap between intention and impact costs organizations trust, talent, and well-being.

So, I built a framework to close it.

As Founder & CEO of Showing Up LLC, I’ve spent twelve years testing, scaling, and validating a measurable, sustainable system that equips leaders to do what humans do best: connect under stress, pressure and emotions.

These frameworks aren’t just theory. They’re used daily by leaders at Fortune 50 companies, global law firms, healthcare systems, professional sports teams, and top universities to reclaim confidence, cut turnover, and raise “I feel seen” scores by double digits.

GENERATIONAL INTELLIGENCE

The Science of Working Across Generational Divides

Today’s workplace brings together several generations, each shaped by distinct world events, technologies, communication patterns, and expectations. These differences can spark misunderstanding, or unlock unprecedented collaboration. LIFTING UP

What I Teach:

Jen Marr, a woman with blonde hair smiling and wearing a navy blazer holds a book titled 'Lifting Up' towards the camera, outdoors near a waterfront with modern buildings in the background.

When leaders learn to own uncertainty, awkward and avoided moments become accelerators of trust and growth.

The Lifting Up Framework helps leaders:

1. Navigate the intersection of leadership, mental health, and HR with clear boundaries.

2. Identify personal blind spots that limit connection and trust.

3. Bridge generational divides with empathy and agility.

4. Master micro-moments that build loyalty and psychological safety.

5. Lead supportive conversations that grow people into all they can be.

Simply put: when we lift each other up, we transform uncertainty into growth.
